MONTHLY BOARD DIRECTORS MEETING
TUESDAY, DECEMBER 2, 2008
The meeting was called to order by the president, Arnold Martin, at 11:31.
Board members present were: Arnold Martin, Esther Nachimson, Charles Schmidt, Anna Walther, Jim Wells, Nell Anne Hunt and new board member Felix Fenter. Also, present were:Past President, Don McGee, prospective Treasurer Charles Hosler, TLCA representative, Kathrine Pennington, new C10 Block Captain, Marqueax Black and active
supporter, Laural Hosler
Board members not present were: Martin Kahn, John DeMarco, Linda Oliver
and Barbara Hull. Committee chairs not present were Jennifer Davis, Fred O’Dell and Pat Andres.
Arnold commended Don McGee on the extensive time and effort expended in the preparation of the new bylaws approved at the general meeting. He thanked the nominating committee for the slate of officers presented. The minutes have been posted on the UHAOH website.
Don McGee reported on the results of the annual meeting and introduced new board members Felix Fenter, Anna Walther and Linda Oliver.
Nell Anne Hunt motioned the election of Arnold Martin, President; Esther Nachimson, Secretary and Charles Schmidt Vice President of the UHAOH board of directors for the coming year. Charles seconded the motion. The motion passed.
Arnold introduced Charles Hosler as prospective board member and treasurer. Esther motioned that Charles Hosler be elected a new UHAOH Board Member and Treasurer. Charles Schmidt seconded the motion. The motion passed. Arnold welcomed Charles Hosler to our board.
Don motioned that the minutes of the November 4 board meeting and the November 11 Annual Meeting, posted on the UHAOH website, be approved. Charles Schmidt seconded the motion. The motion passed.
Arnold asked the board for a resolution by the board of directors for sign atory changes at the Bank of the West for the coming term. Esther motioned that the changes needed for changing the signatures at the Bank be made to be Charles Hosler, Arnold Martin, Don Jensen and Don McGee. Charles Schmidt seconded the motion. The motion passed.
Arnold introduced the reappointment of committee chairs: Jim Wells, Webmaster& Neighborhood Communications; Charles Schmidt, Community Liaison, "Going Green" and Volunteers Solicitation; Barbara Hull, Deck the Hills and New Resident Welcome; Fred O’Dell, Spring Fling ; Pat Andres, Yard of the Month, Christmas Lighting and Property Beautification; Linda Oliver, Paid Member Recruitment; Nell Anne Hunt, Publicist & Flag Caper Organizer; Martin Kahn, Legal Adviser and John DeMarco as "Utility" Board Member.
Jim Wells recommended that the membership forms to be sent out next month be compatible with the Directory update so it would not be necessary to have but one mailing.
Arnold stated the subject of the Barnett Shale has been "put on hold". He emphasized that NIAC will continue to look at and be ready when it arises again. Development is slow at the present time. He assured the board that no position has been taken by anyone.
Arnold reminded the board that the applications for new grant money needed to be complete by the middle of January. He reminded us capital equipment funding request was not acceptable. Jim Wells suggested asking for funds to help with the publication of our directory.
Charles Schmidt noted that the Farine Volunteer Project had 3 confirmed volunteers.
The awards (10) for holiday lighting will be judged on Wednesday, December 10th.
The board welcomed the attendance of Margueax Black, the new block captain on Sonora Court and San Juan Court. She is full of great ideas and enthusiasm and will be a great asset to the UHAOH.
Kathrine Pennington reported from TLCA that the Bradford Pear trees in the median on Leland were being replaced with Foster Holly and Cedar Elm trees.The pears had lived out their expected life span.
The next board meeting will be on Tuesday, January 5 at the Las Colinas Country Club at 11:30 AM. Those wishing to eat lunch are asked to come at 11:00.
