ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 2010

 

The 11the annual general meeting of the UHAOH meeting was called to order at 7:15 by the president, Arnold Martin.

 

Board members present were:  Arnold Martin, Charles Schmidt, Charles Hosler,     Esther Nachimson, John DeMarco, Jim Wells, Martin Kahn, Anna Walther and Don McGee.

 

Sharra Copper, membership director for the Las Colinas Country Club was introduced by the president.  She addressed the opportunities at the club for present and new members with a new program, LC #1 Memberships.  She invited those who were not members, to join.

 

The treasurer, Charles Hosler, presented the current financial report for UHAOH.  Although there has been a slight drop of 30 members in the association, we have 262 dues paying members.  Despite a deficit of expenses from income, he reported total assets of $27, 600 which included income of $2,100 from advertizing, grants and sponsorship from TLCA.  At the present time, a conservative stance is being held to keep a sound foundation.  P&L statements are available upon request. 

 

The minutes of the last annual meeting in 2009 are posted on the internet.  A copy was available at the meeting.  Don McGee motioned that the minutes be approved as posted.  Anna Walther seconded the motion. The motioned passed without discussion.

 

Charles Schmidt presented Green Neighbor medallions to Kevin and Peggy Yard who live at3817 Acapulco. 

 

There were 8 homes that qualified for the designation of homes 40 or more years old that had been maintained according to protocols established by UHAOH.  Brenda McShan of 501 E. Rochelle was present to accept her yard sign.

 

Charles announced the evening of December 15 is set aside for the Christmas Lighting Contest in UH.  There will be 11 awards this year.  10 will be theme awards with the eleventh being the Grand Champion Award for best all over décor.

 

Arnold asked our legal council, Martin Kahn, to ascertain that there were enough members to go forward with our general meeting.  He confirmed that there were sufficient numbers to meet the UHAOH bylaws. 

 

Don McGee asked that all in attendance to observe a moment of silence for a blessing of our troops and for God’s protection over them.

 

Don McGee, head of the nominating committee, presented the list of officers who were to be voted on for the next 3 year term, Arnold Martin, John DeMarco, Charles Schmidt and Fred O’Dell.    Officers who will be up for re-election in 2011 are Esther Nachimson, Anna Walther, Jim Wells and Martin Kahn.   Officers whose terms expire in 2012 are Nell Ann Hunt, Garland Sherrod, Barbara Hull and Jennifer Davis.

 

As there were no nominations from the floor, Arnold asked that the slate, as presented, be approved by acclamation.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

Arnold presented Rick Bidne, president of TLCA, who spoke to the group about the exciting things happening in our area.  He updated the audience about the opening of the new convention center in January and about the disposition of the two other venues, the entertainment complex and the Waterway project on O’Connor.  A question and answer period followed.

 

Heinz Simon, who recently retired as Chairman of TLCA, was applauded for his steadfast leadership and service to University Hills for over 50 years.

 

The meeting adjourned at 8:33 P.M.
