Chuck Hosler, Treasurer, passed out copies of the monthly report and called attention to several entries.  He noted that the invoices for two ads in our 2010 UH Directory had not paid.

Jim Wells asked that the names of these two businesses be recorded so that these entities will not be approached in future.)

The report stated that Minuteman Press was granted $100 worth of advertizing in exchange for work done for UHAOH yearbook.

Rick Bidney gave an extensive review of happenings and events in Las Colinas.

  1. Pea Patch Lake, being dredged by DCURD at Rochelle and Northlake, should be completed in 2-3 weeks.
  2. The new Convention Center is scheduled for opening in January of 2011. The first paid renter will be on February 1.
  3. The planned Entertainment venue will go forward with the sale of bonds.
  4. Waterstreet is in a holding stance.
  5. DART has secured the funding for the new rail system to go into DFW.
  6. DART should open out to Beltline in 2012
  7. The DART station planned for Loop 12 has been deferred-land leased to TXDOT
  8. TLCA is very aggressive on collections and judicial foreclosures.  They do not do non-judicial foreclosures.  Liens are posted 2 times a year.

TLCA and Irving City code enforcement are working hand in hand in a manner that is very gratifying to both parties.  It was mentioned that minor entry points have not been maintained well.  Trash needs to be picked up and matter needs to be called to the attention of code enforcement.

There is an increase in the number of large semi truck-trailers being seen driving on Rochelle and Northgate.  The names and numbers of these vehicles need to be recorded and reported to the police.

Mr. Bidney called special attention to TLC Annual Meeting at the Omni Mandalay Hotel, October 4, at 4:00 PM.  All are invited.  It is particularly important to have a great turnout.  Immediately following the meeting will be a farewell reception for Heinz Simon who is retiring from TLCA board of directors, after many years of faithful service to our community.

Charles Schmidt reported our grant request to the City of Irving had been turned in.  The Boy Scout curb painting should be completed within the week.

Arnold suggested that we should participate in the city program “Adopt a Spot” for Wingren Road from Hwy 183 to Rochelle.  This area will be the entry into UH from the east for several years.  It is looking seedy.

Nell Anne thanked Chuck for his hard work organizing our participation at the Farine Fund Fest.  John volunteered to help.

National Night Out has been put on hold for another year.

Jen Davis is putting the final touches to the President’s Letter to go out to all UH residents.

Nell Ann Hunt passed out the report on home sales in UH.  She explained and discussed the “short sale” of properties and the advantage to the distressed homeowner.

Barbara Hull will purchase a reindeer display for our Festival of Lights in December.  The $1,100 is in the budget.

Pat Andres announced the Yard of the Month, 308 Tampico, owned by Rocky and Sandra Rosellini.  She said so many yards suffered from the unusually high heat, it was difficult to find a yard that had not been damaged.

The next UHAOH board meeting will be on Tuesday, October 5, at 11:30 A.M.  Those wishing to eat should arrive at 11:00 A.M.

The meeting was adjourned at 1:14 P. M.

Respectively submitted,

Esther Nachimson,

Secretary
